2015 STATE OF THE COMMONWEALTH: STATEMENT FROM THE VIRGINIA SENATE DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS

RICHMOND, VA – Tonight, Governor Terry McAuliffe delivered his annual State of the Commonwealth address in which he touted his economic record from his first year in office and presented an outline for his 2015 legislative priorities.

Democratic Leader Dick Saslaw (D-Fairfax) said, "Governor McAuliffe has traveled the globe to bring businesses to Virginia resulting in $5.5 billion in new investments. Those investments have resulted in jobs for hardworking Virginians. We applaud these tireless efforts and look forward to working with the Governor to diversify and grow the Commonwealth's economy."

Caucus Chair Donald McEachin (D-Henrico) said, “On behalf of the Caucus, I fully endorse Governor McAuliffe’s 2015 legislative agenda as laid out in this evening’s State of the Commonwealth address, and its emphasis on expanding opportunity for all Virginians – be it economic opportunity, educational opportunity, democratic opportunity, equal opportunity, or the opportunity to lead healthier and safer lives. After all, as the Governor has demonstrated, the way we attract jobs to Virginia is by broadcasting loud and clear that we are open for business and serious about establishing Virginia as a 21st century economy.”

The Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus supports the legislative, political and electoral endeavors of Virginia Democratic senators.  The caucus does everything it can to help senators carry out their mission to represent all Virginians and pass legislation that reflects Virginia’s mainstream values.
