Senate Democrats Applaud Grassroots Teacher Rallies
Tomorrow, Teachers in Three Virginia Cities will Hold Grassroots Rallies to Protest Education Budget Cuts
Tomorrow, March 3, public school teachers in Charlottesville, Virginia Beach, and Roanoke will rally against cuts to education funding proposed by some legislators in the General Assembly.
“One of the reasons I voted against the budget was because it funded public schools at a lower level than we did in 2007, while sending $25 million of public taxpayer money to exclusive private academies. I’m proud to stand with teachers all across Virginia who are demanding support from their government,” said Senator A. Donald McEachin (D-Henrico).
Legislators need to do a better job funding our Commonwealth’s public schools. Virginia’s teachers and parents are demanding that the General Assembly take action to invest in our children and our public schools. Democrats support these rallies because we won’t let Virginia go backwards.
